Fifty percent of the profits we raise are donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The remaining money is used to assist local (North East) people with MND and their families by helping to fund much needed home adaptations and disability equipment. Please read some of their comments below and donate to help more like them if you can!

My name is Patrick urwin I was diagnosed in 2018 with mnd (slow progression) recently I’m struggling to get upstairs to bed bathroom etc so need ground floor living and my house is too small for adaptions so I need an extension to make life easier for me and my partner . I thought I would get help from council with a grant as the work to build is very expensive but they would not help . We approached Louise and the Scott bell fund who said straight away that they would help with a very generous donation and this is the 2nd time they have helped me as they gave me a donation towards my step free upstairs bathroom . Thank you so much your help is so appreciated and you’re donation will help me so much

Words cannot express my appreciation for the generous financial help received by my wife and I towards the installation of a ramp and an automatic garage door to facilitate my access to the outside world using my electric wheelchair. The scottbell fund has given me back my independence after being housebound for so many months relying on everyone for help with travel beyond my front door.
The fund personnel are so friendly, knowledgeable and understanding.
Thanks to them I now have a new lease of life.

So many thanks for helping ‘special ones’ like us.

I would like to thank the Scott Bell Fund on behalf of a patient and their family. A generous donation has enabled them to purchase a lifting cushion which will allow the family to assist their loved one in the event of a fall. Sadly MND can lead to increasing weakness in the lower limbs and falls will occur as a result of this. Most people will continue to walk for as long as physically possible, therefore equipment of this nature is vital to enable those family members providing support. Although assistance in the form of a falls pendant was also available, this wasn’t an appropriate solution on this occasion and the financial assistance has allowed the family to go with the option which promoted quality of life for this individual. Many thanks!

Many thanks to The Scott Bell fund for contributing to the cost of hoisting equipment for a patient which allowed his wife to continue in her caring role. Charitable support of this nature is so vital when many people don’t qualify for DFG funds despite being hugely disabled by MND. Kind Regards Sarah, MND care coordinator.

We wish to acknowledge receipt of your donation which we have gratefully received to enable us to have a more suitable stair lift for Heather.

Heather and myself are extremely pleased that the ScottBellFund have supported her in this way, this stair lift is much more manageable than the previous one as it has remote controls and is more suitable for Heather at this stage of her disease.

I can see from your website that Scott was very well thought of and a thoroughly nice person. My heartfelt thoughts goes out to you and your family and to his supporters in establishing the ScottBellFund in his memory.

We both hope it continues to go from strength to strength and we will support you when we are in a better position to be able to.

    Thank you once again,

    Our very best wishes,

    Heather and Clive Castle

I am writing to thank the scottbell fund on behalf of myself and Mr Walker for the very kind donation towards the cost of a stairlift. This means a great deal to Mr Walker and his family as it allows him to retain a proportion of his independence.

    Keep up the good work.

    kindest regards

Thank you so much for your donation towards a bespoke bed for my patient. I am sure we would have struggled to raise the full amount without your contribution. We have been able to provide a young family with not only an essential piece of equipment but also a piece of equipment that will allow them to spend quality time together.

I would like to thank everyone involved with the scottbellfund for their kind donation for hydrotherapy sessions. I am finding it increasingly difficult to walk and this will enable me to take much needed exercise without fear of falling.

    Thank you so much

Dear Louise and all involved in the scottbellfund,

This morning I received a telephone call from Sister Kelly from the MND unit to let us know you have made a donation that completes the cost of the work needed for my husband Bill and I to help us with our disabilities.
Bill was diagnosed with having a stroke in 2013 and had a series of tests over the next one and a quarter years to come to the conclusion it was not a stroke but MND.
It was such a shock as no one had suggested it was anything other than the stroke.
We have now come to terms with the illness with the help from all at the RVI unit. They have been absolutely wonderful.
I understand from Sister Kelly that you have been through this awful illness with your husband and have raised the fantastic amount of money to help others, with a lot of hard work. You must be one of the angels doing good in this crazy world.
I cannot thank you all enough for your generosity and hope you and your family have a good life.

    Thanking you once again.

Although I did not know Scott, I have special memories now because of what he created while suffering with this evil disease.
My husband George was diagnosed with MND in August last year and has declined very quickly ever since. We received both Scotts power wheelchair and a donation towards adaptation equipment for my van before Easter. The support from the “scottbell fund” has meant that George was able to go with me on holiday to France which we never thought possible.
I would like to share that Scotts memory lives on helping MND sufferers directly and for this I am eternally grateful to Scott and his family x
